I’m planning a long weekend in July at a bed and breakfast. It’s the first vacation I’ve been on, besides trips to our friends’ cabin, since my husband passed away in 2010.
During our marriage, we went on only a handful of vacations, but Chicago was a place that we chose to visit twice.
In my novel, The Reluctant Billionaire, Jessica moves from the home she shared in downtown Chicago back to her parents’ house as she picks up the pieces after her divorce. Her longtime friend and neighbor, Liam, is close by to help her through it.
In the sequel to my Christmas novel, Serena’s New Year’s Wish, which will be released next holiday season, the setting is Chicago.
You might think after reading the books that Chicago is a favorite place of mine, and you would be right. I enjoyed staying downtown and walking around, seeing the sights of the city. We went once in the fall, and once in the coldest part of winter. A wish of mine is to return to Chicago by train during the summer months and visit the Navy Pier.
